BEACH PAINTINGS WITH PASTEL JOIE DE VIVRE

SALLY WEST
Thick impasto strokes of paint deposit carefree pastel color and texture to Sally West’s beach landscape paintings.

The Sydney-based artist’s oil painting series, entitled “Beach Studies,” depict the beaches and seascapes near her home.
Many of West’s paintings have been inspired by the Freshwater Beach, in particular.

West often climbs to a high rock to gain an aerial perspective of the waves, sand, surfers, and swimmers.

West loves to fully immerse herself into the landscape by painting in plein air.
West has a special relationship with Freshwater Beach, fondly known as “Freshy,” visiting the beautiful seaside there as a child. Her mother, grew up in the area.

Full of expression, each brushstroke passionately conveys movement of water, sand, sea, and breeze.

West’s award-winning paintings are found in private collections around the world. You can purchase Sally West’s beach studies online at KAB Gallery.
